The Position
Reporting to the Surveying Director, you will be responsible for excellence in the execution of our Quantity Surveying Services. The primary objective of the Quantity Surveyor is to provide accurate and commercially astute financial management and control of every aspect of the projects appointed to you, to maximise commercial results.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
This will include, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Be aware and understand the companies Health & Safety procedures, promote the same to the supply chain and within Rihoy & Son.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and policies.
- Managing and delegating to subordinates as required and assist in the guidance and development of Junior Surveyors.
- Advising on procurement strategy.
- Preparing subcontract documents, including bills of quantities.
- Produce and maintain subcontractor and supply procurement schedules.
- Review contract conditions, agree recommendations with the Surveying Director and negotiate amendments to documentation with sub-contractors and clients.
- Procurement of subcontractors.
- Produce and issue Materials Order Requests to Company Buyer.
- Preparing and analysing costings for tenders.
- Managing costs on a wide variety of projects.
- Undertaking monthly cost, value reconciliations.
- Performing risk and value management and cost control.
- Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks.
- Price up variations and obtain agreement with clients.
- Valuing works as they progress and agreeing final accounts.
- Review and approve subcontract payments.
- Provide commercial advice to the site team as and when required.
- Assist in the development of company procedures where required.
- Preparing and analysing costs for tenders.
- Assist senior management with the preparation of contractual claims.
- Detailed understanding of the different building contracts in use and the ability to implement the relevant clauses and to raise issues relating to onerous and unacceptable amendments.
