Behind the scaffold at 13 High Street a significant milestone of the project has been reached; installation of the escalators. It wasn’t a straightforward installation, but all has gone to plan.
The UK specialist installation team has been over twice to survey and measure, and they’ve since installed the escalators in four days.
Each escalator comes in two pieces and needed to be craned in through an opening in the scaffold then carefully positioned into the steels between the floors. An internal temporary hoist system then got them into place.
Next work will soon start on the glazed curtain walling to the front façade, and work is already underway on the roof structure ahead of the roof coverings.
