As proud sponsors of the RGGC Junior team, we are excited to introduce the 2024 RGGC Junior Captain, Jayden Tucknott, a talented young golfer, competing at a high level locally and in the UK.

In 2022, Rihoy & Son sponsored Jayden as an individual player to assist with off-island travel and kit costs. It's great to see him progress in the sport and become team captain.

As big supporters of local sport and encouraging youth in sport, we caught up with Jayden to find out about his passion for the sport.

  1. Hi Jayden, tell us a bit about yourself and how did you get into playing golf?

I’m Jayden Tucknott, I’m 17, play off a handicap of +1 and I’m very proudly the Junior Captain of Royal Guernsey Golf Club for 2024. I got into golf at the age of 10 by going to St Pierre Park on a Sunday afternoon with my grandad after our roast dinners. After 2 years of thoroughly enjoying golf, I was bought membership at the Royal Guernsey Golf Club. I had a handicap in the high 20s and from then on, I never looked back as I found my passion for golf playing daily for the next 5 years.

  2. What are your long-term goals and ambitions within the sport?

Long term, I would love to be playing golf full time as a pro whether this be on a mini tour or on the PGA Tour or DP World Tour. It has been a dream for a long time, I am well on the way to working towards this end goal.

  3. As the 2024 RGGC Junior Captain, what are your responsibilities and what does this role mean to you?

As captain for 2024 my responsibilities include captaining the Junior golf team at matches locally and away. Acting like a role model to the younger juniors and being someone they can ask questions to as well as practice and go on the course together. This means a lot to be captain and an honour whilst representing the club in the best way I can.

  4. Can you share any golfing highlights from over the years?

Some of my highlights include 5 holes in ones, 3 of which are at the Royal Guernsey GC. Another highlight is winning the Island and Channel Island Junior Championships in 2023, and shooting 65 (-5) at the age of 15 round the Royal Guernsey golf club.

  5. Why is the Rihoy & Son sponsorship so important to you and the club?

The Rihoy and Son Sponsorship is extremely important to me and the club as it enables juniors to travel off island as a team to play events against the Jersey clubs. If we’re fortunate enough to win our first Greenjackets match we’ll also be travelling to the UK. The sponsorship additionally allows the club to produce prizes for the junior competitions. This increases the number of players in competitions, who are key to Guernsey achieving success at junior level and important in producing the next generation of the island’s talent.
