Build for Good unveils first project

A new not-for-profit initiative, called ‘Build for Good’, offering free design and construction expertise to local charities has unveiled its first project.

Rihoy & Son and The Drawing Room have jointly donated their time and expertise to provide The Guernsey Counselling Service (GCS) with a new-look facility, in the centre of St Peter Port. The GCS’s upgraded facility includes three counselling rooms, a waiting area, and an office.

The facility re-opened last week with Counselling Director, Sarah Thornton saying she was really pleased with the final result. “The transformation is incredible, and the space reflects the professionalism and care we bring to every counselling session. We are immensely grateful to Build for Good – this is more than just a building, it’s a foundation for the future of our service.”

Rihoy & Son provided the construction work worth £30,000 and The Drawing Room completed the design worth £10,000. Dan Taylor, Managing Director of Rihoy & Son, added: “Our team has been proud to play a part in giving GCS the space it needs to continue its essential work in the community. It shows what can be done when local organisations come together with a shared goal.”

Rachel Rogers, Director at The Drawing Room, said they too were really keen to get involved on this project. “It’s been a privilege to see this project go from concept to completion,” she said. GCS offers a professional counselling service to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay, also received some funding for the refurbishment cost from the Guernsey Community Foundation.
