Prince of Wales

Rihoy & Son acted as main contractor for the transformation of the Prince of Wales in St Peter Port, working with Randalls Guernsey and DLM Architects to deliver a complete upgrade of this protected building.

The project involved full refurbishment of the ground and first floors, reconfiguring the layout to create a bright, flexible space operating as a café, tapas bar and evening venue. A new steel staircase and double height void improved natural light and vertical flow, connecting the two floors.

Key features include bespoke fluted timber bars, curved seating, decorated steel shelving and handcrafted terrazzo tiling. Finishes such as clay plaster, brass fittings and herringbone flooring bring warmth and character.

Despite site and access constraints, the scheme was completed on schedule, giving a new lease of life to one of Guernsey’s landmark venues.
