Congratulations to our carpentry apprentice Jack, who has been awarded first place in the Regional Under 20 Section of the Institute of Carpenters’ Carpenters’ Craft Competition.
Having completed his practical college work two months ahead of schedule, Jack was given the opportunity by the Guernsey Institute to create a competition piece which was sent to the UK to be judged alongside work from other apprentice carpenters.
The competition gave Jack the chance to work on something completely different from his day-to-day site work, using different skills and machinery to produce a piece to competition standard. It was an opportunity he really enjoyed and one that allowed him to put his developing craftsmanship to the test in a new setting.
It is a fantastic achievement and recognition of the skill, commitment and craftsmanship Jack is developing through his apprenticeship.
To mark the achievement, our Managing Director, Dan Taylor, presented Jack with a tool voucher to support him as he continues developing his skills and career in carpentry.
